Rock Fight Films; Inspiring Independent. INTERVIEW/ARTICLE.

This interview has been long overdue on my part; Joesph Bouvier of Rock Fight Films was amazing enough to answer my questions about such an amazing and supporting independent company. Joesph tells us a great story about the progression of RFF and his lines really express just how kind and supporting and passionate I know this company is.

Tell us about Rock Fight Films and what you do?
I think our Twitter page says it best: Rock Fight Films uses new, long and short form media to tell stories.  We enjoy supporting and developing creative partnerships with other storytellers.

Why did you create Rock Fight Films?
My background has always focused on production. I started as a casting and set PA for features and commercials and worked my way into producing short form, for creative agencies and independently. I spent a few years in LA both producing and with a day job at ABC in Business Affairs, which was invaluable in learning the ins-and-outs of deal making.
In 2010, my son was born and committed to a production hiatus until he was three so I could focus on him. During my break, I took some time to think about next steps and decided that I really wanted to develop my own content (for a change) and do it within a more symbiotic community.  So I started exploring social media and at the same time crowd funding really explored. I joined Twitter at the same time that Brandon Fowler’s Hybrid Vigor KickStarter launched.  It was exciting to see the enthusiasm, support and sense of community that seemed to exist during that campaign.
I really got me hooked on supporting other creative, and developing a community. What started as Follow Friday shout outs has really blossomed into something where I am able to put other creatives together to collaborate and so far it’s been very rewarding.

What project that you have been involved with are you most proud of and why?
Personally for me, I really loved being part of the Producer’s team on writer/director Paul Solet’s short Grace. It was an amazing experience and really satisfying to see it win a number of festival awards and ultimately help secure a production deal to turn it into a feature.

I can honestly say I wouldn’t have met or talked to certain people that have advised me through my works if it wasn’t for the support of Rock Fight Films, they haven’t even moaned at me for taking forever to upload this! Definitely look out for the name Rock Fight Films because if you don’t see it on credits of a great project, it will be the name you write in your biography when you talk about getting to where you are now!
