Got A Short Horror/Thriller? Want It Screened?

Hi guys! I have been lucky enough to start working with Scott Lyus from Crossroad Pictures who I interviewed a little while back. Working together we are trying to get his most latest short out there 'Order of the Ram', so we are booking in large venues for promotional screenings of the film by doing a horror night.   THATS RIGHT AN INDEPENDENT HORROR NIGHT! We are looking for short horror & thriller films, completely independent & self funded, to show alongside/before the headline film Order !   Some venues fit a small amount of people, but others we are booking in fit 200! So your film could be shown in front of 200 people, sometimes even more!   We will be holding the screenings around London & Southampton for the current time! You don't have to be there, obviously if you can or want to that's also great!   SO IF YOU HAVE A SHORT YOU WANT CONSIDERED TO BE SCREENED AROUND THE UK EMAIL ME: velvetfilmmore@gmail.com !   Any questions

MONOLOGUE SHOOT. (NOW UPLOADED ON YOUTUBE)

Image
I came up with the idea of a monologue about a young girl in this generation but has a mind state where she believes she is actually a woman from the 50's. The video I uploaded on YouTube is just over a minute long but shows different shots of the character and shows both her amateur mind as well as style within the way I filmed it.           You can find the full video on my YouTube Channel at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_aISsFXgWQ   GO CHECK IT OUT!   VF.

Monologue Shoot.

Image
I did some filming, quite a while ago, for a monologue I did based on a woman from the darker past times who loved the attention of men. However she gets to the point where the lipstick smudges and one night stands begins to drive her slightly insane. I used lipstick to first create a heart on her lips and then her body to start with the concept of innocent, fun love and then moved on to her crossing out her hearts and using the lipstick to show the thought of suicide, the lip tick drawing a line over her throat to pursue the idea of what makes her, will kill her.   All these shots are unedited at the moment, so currently the background is not right for this piece, however I love the look of the character unedited right now.           These images are also in an order of the levels of struggle the character reaches, there are loads of stills and screenshots, but I picked to share these ones as they are my top favourite and show the concept quite simply.

Ramblings Due To Whiskey & No Sleep.

Image
My eyelids are heavy, when open my eyes pain with want of sleep, yet due to the 18 hours sleep I had the night before my body is in a chilled state, two sides having that annoying argument of 'what do you wanna do?' 'I don't know what do you wanna do?' In my mind I talk to myself, yet it is a man's voice I hear. I find this normal, a normal man, a normal voice, making normal points in a normal way, saying normally; "Without sleep, you're blinking will slow, you're walking will slow, you're breathing will slow, you're reflexes with slow. You'll be a slower version of yourself entirely, giving you the impression of a speeding and uncatchable reality that will cause you to ask the question 'What?' more than the traditional three time limit". Now I have decided to stay awake the rest of the day and I'm at that awkward stage, my eyelids stay glued open and wide, my body no longer speaks but is pure silent after the whiskey

I'm Ill So I Went On A Shop.

Image
I may still be ill and extremely sleep deprived but I have decided to take a break tonight! Not before I waddled and sniffled my way to Waterstones and bought myself this!:     Now I should have saved this till last because this is by far my favourite one & the best one!   Next up on my "Haul" shall we say, just like the beauty queens on YouTube! I can be the ill blogger of randomness & well germs...ANYWHO! The next thing I got was this awesome mini magnetic bookmarks:   There's quite a few and they have Batman, The Joker & Robin on them as well as Catwoman!   Well next up, I think I may have gone a bit crazy with this new interest of mine, I seem to have become slightly obsessed with the movie On The Road. Now OTR was based on a book by a great author named Jack Kerouac , so I went out to by the book and I am enjoying it so far, however because I enjoy the samplings I have read of his work I kinda bought every boo

Monologue Shoot.

Image
I started working on a short monologue so I could get some filming done if a friend/actress of mine called Haz Dale. The monologue was based on a woman who is in a domestic violent relationship and her feelings of being trapped. The point of the monologue was that even though she was trapped and hurt, it had been going on for so long that she has become comfortable in her entrapment, too scared to be free again.   Anyway here are some stills I got whilst filming:               VF.

Spooky Brilliance: Paige McKenzie/The Haunting of Sunshine Girl Network. ARTICLE/INTERIEW.

Image
I got to do something a little different with this interview, I got to look at filmmaking and directing from a different perspective and talk to Paige McKenzie creator of The Haunting of Sunshine Girl Network. This network is a widely known YouTube sensation based on the subject of the paranormal. Now what Paige does really interest me, she has been creating something we’ve all seen yet made it her own, added originality as well as online entertainment to a well-known genre.   With this interview I first started off with asking Paige why, why this, what was her inspiration: “ I just really wanted to create something fun and different and something my mom and I could work on together. So a channel on YouTube was a perfect fit! And everyone loves a good ghost story!  I uploaded my first video on 12/10/2010! That first day I uploaded a few just to get the party started! There have been over 900 videos uploaded since that day! Some are my own haunting videos, some are the 2

Never Stopping, Always Smiling: Melissa Clements. ARTICLE/INTERVIEW.

Image
In the next part of this project I had the pleasure of speaking with actress; Melissa Clements. Filmmaking, producing, etc are important parts in what I talk about and practice myself, but you cannot create some pieces of forever living art without a talented cast. So I spoke to Melissa about acting, methods and the future. Some people are instantly drawn into acting performance at a young age, some actors I have spoken to knew they wanted to be an actor as soon as they’re parents filmed them on a low quality hand held camera at Christmas, however some people go through a hit and miss and different paths before they find their dream and that’s what happened to Melissa. “ I took up dancing classes when I was very young, but suffered an injury which meant I needed to take time out.   I decided to try acting in the meantime and found I loved it! It made me realise what I enjoyed most about dancing was in fact the performance and dramatic aspect, so I decided to continue wit

Crossroad Pictures' Scott Lyus: Order Of The Ram, ARTICLE/INTERVIEW

Image
In working more with my latest project, in which I am talking with and writing about; filmmakers, writers, actors and more, my next slice is about the latest short film that has been released by Crossroad Pictures titled Order of the Ram.   Scott Lyus; founder of Crossroad Pictures and writer/director of Order of the Ram, was kind enough   to take a few moments to be interviewed by me and answer questions about the exciting release of the film, what you can expect from it and the growing future Order of the Ram is determined and sure to have.     Here’s a summary of this new interesting masterpiece, in Scott’s own words : “ So Order of the Ram follows Mary, a young, well-spoken college girl. Suddenly her life is turned upside down when she is attacked in a dense wood by a familiar face. When she awakes before her stand the Order of the Ram, a satanic cult who’s pure combined ambition in life, is to bring forth their saviour.  Now on the
