Spring breakers is a American drama film that follows four teenage college girls that are saving up and determined to get to Spring break. Not having enough money three of the girls rob a restaurant with squirt guns and hammers, giving them enough money to go. As the story goes on you see them living their life to the full with dancing, drugs, alcohol and a very large number of half naked women. The girls then get arrested at a hotel where other spring breakers are all doing substances, etc, when it all seems dark and troubled they are bailed out by a man whose eye they caught called Alien. Alien is a drug dealer and more, which is the key to all the chaos that goes from there within the movie, as the girls and him bond with love, drugs and violence. This Spring break is one they will never forget.

Filmed in sunny Florida, bright lights are shining in this movie with sun, sea and neon lights. Everything is highlighted, nothing is subtle which works very well with this movie as the girls and Alien act power hungry for money and thrills. The scenes filmed within the college before they make it to Florida are very dull, so the difference of location and emotion is really put in front of you, with almost blinding obvious-ness.

The actors in this film are all very unexpected, this is not High School Musical, but all four girls let loose and showed their bad side and they did it in a way that makes their characters kick ass. James Franco's portrayal of Alien will make you jaw drop as you almost think it's not Franco, with 'grills' on his teeth, braided hair and an excessive amount of guns, Franco really becomes someone else and did it very well.

With this movie I really enjoy the concept and most of the scenes, however with other movies I've seen in the same sort of boat the violence was made a bit more obvious, I feel the violence was just a little too subtle and this even ruins a bit of the ending for me.

This film is sexy, thrilling and something you would not expect, do not let the famous names fool you because they are something else in this movie. Springbreakers is something the film industry needed right now, it was a risk and the risk was took, so we are given this bare naked movie that will get you pumping.

My Rating: 7/10
